A Peacefull Protest a sign of the times
On Thursday morning tucked away in a quiet back street of Westminster was this little gathering of people protesting about the mindless wastage of food (in this case Fish) the EU forces on the UK. The fish in the foreground was donated by an Essex fisherman the protesters (about 15 of them) are real and not rent a crowd, the building that they are outside is the European Parliament Office In London - Every now and again they would all chant their war cry and sounded for all the world like a hundred people were shouting it really resonated off the walls, the noise was so loud that I could hear it a street away . Then they would stop and stand around chatting - very British like. There was a film crew there and a mobile news unit and whats more their own office was just behind me directly opposite the EU offices. They probably all met in the Pub at lunchtime - anyone for Cod & Chips!

Merlin, our new toy
Merlin Obama or Black Magic to his friends, has joined the family, and has already cast a magic spell over all who meets him, His soft black, white and brown fur coat is about 2 sizes too big for him so he has room to grow, and as for his ears, well they are just enormous and far too long for him to cope with at the moment, but I'm sure he will get the hang of it.

Thought of the week
Here's a thought for you - all week the house has been around 4 degrees when the heating has been off all day and the outside temperature has been between 0 degrees and -6, while inside the fridge its been a constant heady +6 degrees; so at times it's warmer in the fridge than in the house! The sea froze over along parts of the south coast. It snowed today in London but not here and rain is forecast so it might be getting warmer.

The Day we went to Paris
Arc de Triomphe
In the middle of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the border of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissement stands one of the greatest arches in history: the Arc de Triomphe (arch of triumph).Napoléon's Triumphal Arch
The arch was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victories, but he was ousted before the arch was completed. In fact, it wasn't completed until 1836 during the reign of Louis-Philippe. The Arc de Triomphe is engraved with names of generals who commanded French troops during Napoleon's regime.
